On January 5, 2025, TDR attorneys secured voluntary dismissal–without settlement–of a class action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois accusing our client of violating the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”). The dismissal ended the lawsuit at an early stage and exonerated our client as to the claims filed against it.
Our client, a driver safety and transportation intelligence company, uses video and driver data to monitor driver behavior in commercial vehicles. The lawsuit was filed by two former drivers for a trucking company that used our client’s services. After we engaged in a dialogue with plaintiffs’ counsel regarding the nature of our client’s services and the requirements of BIPA, plaintiffs voluntarily dropped the claims against our client.
TDR attorneys Timothy Hudson, Ashley Insalaco and Megan Ryan obtained this result on behalf of our clients.
